
How can I track downloadable files?
The first thing you need to do is ensure that Outbound link tracking is enabled. Under the Google Analyticator settings page, look for the "Outbound link tracking" field under the Advanced Settings. Make sure it is enabled. You will then need to find two fields that you need to edit to enable proper download tracking.
First, find the "Download extensions to track" field under the Advanced Settings. Add every file extension you wish to track as in a comma delimited list. For example,

Second, find the "Prefix download links with" field under the Advanced Settings. This field should be directly below the "Download extensions to track" field. This field defaults to "download", but you may switch it to whatever you want.
That's it. Download tracking is now enabled. To view the stats, go under your Google Analytics account and view the report for the correct profile. In the left hand column, you will see a link named "Content". On the Content page, you will once again hit a link in the left hand column named "Content Drilldown". Search under the Content Performance section for the prefix you gave to your downloads.
